In December 2014, Italy-based Provides Metalmeccanica Srl announced a $6.1 million investment and its first United States manufacturing facility in Augusta County. After only nine months, the plant completed its first production run of heat exchangers, and Provides continued its tradition as a leader in the heat exchanger sector worldwide. The location also strengthened a partnership with long-time Augusta County company and Provides customer, Daikin Applied.  The co-location with Daiken Applied creates an improved supply chain for crucial HVAC components to Daikin as well as other HVAC manufacturers in North and South America.

“We have had tremendous success in hiring talented local production associates and management personnel, which, in turn, has allowed us to make great strides in transferring highly technical product designs from Italy to the U.S. in a relatively short time frame,” said Tom Coplai, Chief Operating Officer of Provides US.

Franco Provenziani, Provides CEO, stated, “With great support from state and local economic development agencies, Provides selected Virginia for this opportunity based on its geographic position, providing great interstate access for product distribution; a stable and competitive workforce environment; competitive energy costs; and the availability of technical staffing supported by multiple college curricula. We also found the local supply base to be capable of supporting all facets of our new operation.”

Funding and services to support the company’s employee training activities were provided through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program, Virginia Economic Development Partnership and Augusta County.
